Nonstop communication,” Riley continued. “[We began by] look[ing] at Resorts World 10 years ago — a wonderful product, a game changer, a first in the Philippines — [and how we] have upgraded that over the years with new hotels coming in and different offerings to the public. Because we’ve been used to adapting to change, our management team and our partner hotels are very resilient–the same as the Filipino people—in going to the next level: RWM 2.0.”

Resorts World Manila 2.0 will be led by an Anti-Virus Patrol (AVP) where the properties will go beyond giving security guards the responsibility of ensuring guests wear their masks and follow physical distancing protocols.

“[The] AVPs will have a cap and mask and will tour the property to keep on talking to our staff, remind them of our protocol, and also our guests. We will politely approach them and do it with a smile because we don’t want to impose too hard and too heavy because people come to Resorts World to enjoy themselves,” Riley said.

Besides the AVP, improved safety measures will be introduced across the properties, among them, the Marriott Global Hotel Cleanliness Program for Manila Marriott and Sheraton Manila; Hilton’s CleanStay, Intercontinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) Guidelines for Covid-19 Prevention for HIEx Manila; and Hotel Okura’s Japanese-style and sustainable sanitation protocols. Megaworld’s Savoy Hotel Manila and Belmont Hotel Manila, meanwhile, will be guided by the Stay Safe program.Common across these programs are protocols like contactless transactions and reduced seating capacity, as well as new services like grab-and-go options at dining establishments and tailored events.

Moreover, in compliance with the Department of Trade and Industry’s updated guidelines for dining establishments, restaurants across the entire resort will have dine-in, pick-up and delivery services. RWM’s in-house delivery service, Delishvery, is already accepting orders for its signature restaurants.

In addition, RWM also installed state-of-the-art sanitation and disinfection technologies such as smart disinfection and temperature chambers, Multi-Quat sanitizers, and escalator handrail sanitizers around Newport Mall and all other areas in the property.

“Yes the sanitation is there, we have our screening chambers in every single entrance. We’re actually adjusting our air-conditioning for the whole property to have UV technology to enable the whole resort to screen viruses coming in,” Riley noted.

Finally, the presence of a professional medical team will regularly screen all employees, including merchant partners.

“Every single person who comes to work has a mobile application on their phones where they have to fill in a health checklist daily. If they are sick, they go straight to our medical department so we can monitor the health of our workforce on a daily basis.”

In closing, the CEO shared what he learned from the exercise of getting RWM back on its feet: “I’ve realized over the past three months that technology is there and we just have to make sure we use it.”
